Volatiles: Identification and Quantitation

1 mL serum/plasma/blood Fee $40 STAT $80

Include Ethylene Glycol Fee $80 STAT $160

This panel targets intoxicating volatile substances sometimes substituted for ethanol. This profile is for forensic toxicology situations with a subject history of drinking alcohols other than ethanol. Ethylene glycol should be requested in cases of possible anti-freeze ingestion. Methanol, ethylene glycol, and isopropanol are more toxic than ethanol and should be quantified to assess the degree of toxic consequences. Other volatile intoxicants such as ether, butanone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, etc. should be asked about specifically.

Panel includes: Acetone, Ethanol, Isopropanol, and Methanol (Ethylene glycol optional)

Detection/reporting limit   10 mg/L  (0.01% w/v)
